5 Awesome Things About Christmas

The Christmas season is in full swing. Holiday get-togethers are happening everywhere, stores are jam packed, preparations are being made and everyone is frazzled. So we thought we’d list some great things about the holiday that sends all of us into a frenzy.

1. Lights

For a small period of time, (about two months) the world lights up around us in spectacular ways. Everyday shops become holiday wonderlands and new ways of decorating with light appear each year.

2. Snow

For those in the northern part of the country, snow can be a pain. But when you think of those who have never seen their neighborhood turn into a wonderland of white around them it makes you pause, just for a second and realize that snow is a gorgeous wonder of God. Perfect designs of crystallized water collecting to themselves to blanket the ground and everything else. Literally taking what would be a drab, dreary surrounding, and transforming it into a magical frozen utopia.

3. Sweets

Some of the best sweets of the year come out at Christmastime. Especially at Starbucks. Caramel Ribbon Crunch is a major favorite. But flavors like peppermint, chocolate and gingerbread take center stage. What are some of your favorite Christmas desserts? Comment below.

4. Family Traditions

Whether it’s hiking out to the middle of nowhere to find the family Christmas tree, or decorating the house with items passed down from generations past, family traditions are what make up the substance of the Christmas feeling. While the true meaning of Christmas will always be the Son of God, the way we celebrate His birth is what makes the season so special.

5. The Reason for Christmas

Around three thousand years ago, God almighty sent his son into the physical world, from the supernatural one. He was born of a virgin (most likely in September actually), and lived 33 years as fully God, fully man. His birth was was the single most important moment in human history and is celebrated all over the world on December 25th. He came to die as a ransom for the sins of mankind and those who simply believe in Him may receive the greatest gift, salvation.
